Try a Day of Positive Thinking

Here’s how my day went.

I wake to see a magpie pecking at my window. He loves the linseed glazing putty. Instead of fretting about the damage he’s causing, I focus on appreciating my newly glazed panel.

My phone buzzes; it’s a text from the water company. Low-pressure today. There’s no chance of a shower then, but thank goodness there’s enough water in the kettle for a cuppa to start the day.

I notice a small hole in the sleeve of my sweater. I’m nifty with the needle and it’s quickly mended, The summer sales have just started so I’ll look online for a replacement.

Dark skies and heavy rain put me off going out for a walk, so I have time to catch up with my emails and phone calls.

The quiet roar of rush-hour traffic interrupts my thoughts. I make some white noise to cover it. Music, talk shows, where would I be without the radio?

Lunch is a frugal affair as I’ve had no time to shop. Amazingly, the leftovers in my fridge combine to create magical, unexpected combos.

The clouds finally parted, bringing fresh air and the smell of wet earth. I walk across the fields to the stream that runs through a wood; chicken soup for the soul.
